*BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONS CODE SECTION 7590-7590.5 (r) (1) ""Advertisement"" means: (A) Any written or printed communication for the purpose of soliciting, describing, or promoting the licensed business of the licensee, including a brochure, letter, pamphlet, newspaper,  periodical, publication, or other writing.  (B) A directory listing caused or permitted by the licensee which indicates his or her licensed activity.  (C) A radio, television, or similar airwave transmission which solicits or promotes the licensed business of the licensee.  “Advertising,” included “print or published advertisement in any media form...” It is the opinion of the Bureau that this reference would include internet, online, and any other form of electronic transmission (i.e. text message, etc.).

***Title 19 of NYCRR §195.16 Advertising.  All advertising placed by an individual or a business licensed under this article must contain the following statement: "licensed by the N.Y.S. Department of State."  Title 19 of NYCRR §195.17 Statement of licensure.  All documents or receipts issued by an individual or business licensed pursuant to this article must contain the identification number issued to such individual or business and the phrase "licensed by the N.Y.S. Department of State".

*****RULE §35.36   Consumer Information - (a) A licensee shall, either orally or in writing, notify all consumers or recipients of services of the  license number and the name, mailing address, and telephone number of the Private Security Bureau for the purpose of directing complaints. (b) If a licensee chooses to provide the notice required by subsection (a) of this section in written form, the notification shall contain their license number, the name, mailing address and telephone number of the Bureau, in a type-face of the same size as that which appears in the  document as a whole, but in no case less than 10 point size.  (c) A licensed company must display conspicuously in the principal place of business and any branch office, a sign containing the name, mailing address, and telephone number of the bureau, and a statement informing consumers or recipients of services that complaints against licensees can be directed to the bureau.    421.01 K. Advertising means the direct solicitation for business which requires a license under the provisions of this Act Sec.1702.131 An advertisement by a license holder soliciting or advertising business must contain the license holder's company name and address as stated in commission records

******VA §9.1-139. M. All private security services businesses and private security services training schools in the Commonwealth shall include their license or certification number on all business advertising materials.  VAC 20-171-10 "Business advertising material" means display advertisements in telephone directories, letterhead, business cards, newspaper advertising and contracts.  Uniform means any clothing with a badge, patch or lettering which clearly identifies persons to any observer as private security services business personnel, not law-enforcement officer.  You must display your business license number on business advertising material, display advertisements in telephone directories, letterhead, business cards, local newspaper advertising, and contracts.
